The Orion 20,000 Litres Colorbond Water Tank combines the strength of steel with the aesthetics of Colorbond colour. Constructed from genuine AQUAPLATE steel with a baked enamel interior for safe rainwater storage. Dimensions: 3400mm diameter x 2310mm height. Available in 9 Colorbond colours.
Big tank, small visual weight
At 20,000 litres this is a substantial cylinder on the block. Zincalume-raw it reads as agricultural infrastructure. Colorbond-matched to the house roof, the shed, or a carefully chosen neutral from the 22+ colour range, the same mass softens into the landscape. Colorbond earns its money hardest at this size, because the size is what Colorbond is hiding.
Same food-grade lining as smaller Aquaplate tanks
Internal polymer lining certified AS/NZS 4020 for potable water. No difference in water quality compared to a smaller Aquaplate or Colorbond product. The scale is the only variable.
Where this shape fits
3400mm across, 2310mm tall. Good for builds serving more than one dwelling off a single catchment, rural homes with irrigation or stock demand on top of household, and anywhere you want to reduce truck deliveries by storing more in one run. On the same 3400mm footprint, the 14,000L stays at 1550mm and the 27,500L climbs to 3080mm.

How long will it take to arrive?
Most tanks reach your block within two weeks of order. Every tank is made in Tasmania and delivered direct, so there’s no mainland freight wait. If you’ve got a critical date (plumber booked, build sign-off, certifier inspection), let us know at order time and we’ll flag any timing risk
Do you install the tank or sort the plumbing?
No. We deliver to your block and unload. Connecting it to your downpipe, pump, and house plumbing is a job for your plumber. On a new build the plumber usually has the inlet, outlet, and overflow rough-in ready before the tank arrives.
Do I need council approval to install a water tank?
For most rural and residential properties in Tasmania, a standalone rainwater tank doesn’t need council approval. Larger tanks, elevated tanks on stands, and tanks in heritage zones can have local rules, so a quick check with your council before you order is worth the five minutes. Fire fighting tanks tied to a building permit are usually approved as part of the build itself.
Can I pick the colour?
Yes. Most ranges come in 22+ Colorbond colours so you can match a roof, fascia, fence, or pick something that disappears into the bush. Use the colour picker on the product page. The live colour shows on the 3D tank view so you can see exactly how it’ll look before you check out.
What if I order the wrong size or change my mind?
Get in touch as soon as you can. If the tank hasn’t begun manufacturing, we may be able to change the tank colour or size. Unfortunately, once manufacturing starts (as all tanks are custom-made), we can’t accept returns.
