At 27,500 litres, the tank is within sight of a proper commercial water storage installation, but still in the Aquaplate residential-steel range. On a 3,400mm footprint and 3,080mm height, it has serious visual presence. That’s the point. This isn’t a tank you tuck away. It’s a tank that anchors the rural infrastructure of the property.
Why Aquaplate still matters at this scale
At 27,500L, the standard assumption is you’d step into unlined galvanised steel or concrete tanks. Plain galv at this capacity has known water quality issues (taste, pitting, sediment from decade-plus storage). Concrete tanks are heavy, expensive to deliver, and don’t mate well with most rural plumbing. Aquaplate keeps the tank within familiar steel-tank territory (delivery, install, plumbing) while keeping water contact on a food-grade polymer liner. AS/NZS 4020 certified. Potable all the way up to 27,500 litres.

How long will it take to arrive?
Most tanks reach your block within two weeks of order. Every tank is made in Tasmania and delivered direct, so there’s no mainland freight wait. If you’ve got a critical date (plumber booked, build sign-off, certifier inspection), let us know at order time and we’ll flag any timing risk
Do you install the tank or sort the plumbing?
No. We deliver to your block and unload. Connecting it to your downpipe, pump, and house plumbing is a job for your plumber. On a new build the plumber usually has the inlet, outlet, and overflow rough-in ready before the tank arrives.
Do I need council approval to install a water tank?
For most rural and residential properties in Tasmania, a standalone rainwater tank doesn’t need council approval. Larger tanks, elevated tanks on stands, and tanks in heritage zones can have local rules, so a quick check with your council before you order is worth the five minutes. Fire fighting tanks tied to a building permit are usually approved as part of the build itself.
Can I pick the colour?
Yes. Most ranges come in 22+ Colorbond colours so you can match a roof, fascia, fence, or pick something that disappears into the bush. Use the colour picker on the product page. The live colour shows on the 3D tank view so you can see exactly how it’ll look before you check out.
What if I order the wrong size or change my mind?
Get in touch as soon as you can. If the tank hasn’t begun manufacturing, we may be able to change the tank colour or size. Unfortunately, once manufacturing starts (as all tanks are custom-made), we can’t accept returns.
