The 3,400L Aquaplate Water Tank is the balanced mid-size steel tank. 1,680mm diameter, 1,550mm tall, reasonable in both dimensions, enough capacity for a suburban or rural household running non-potable supply or small-block primary. Aquaplate’s Zincalume steel shell with food-grade lining gives you the steel look without the drinking-water compromise. AS/NZS 4020 compliant. Tasmanian-made with a 15-year prorated warranty and free delivery to 90% of the state.

The goldilocks Aquaplate
1,680mm wide, 1,550mm tall, 3,400 litres. Balanced in both directions. Not too tall to dominate a sightline, not too wide to take the yard. Fits comfortably on a standard 1,780mm concrete pad. The mid-range Aquaplate most rural blocks default to when they want steel construction without silo-scale presence.
Why Aquaplate
Aquaplate is Zincalume-coated steel outside, food-grade polymer lining inside. Steel for the strength, corrugated look, and coastal-tolerant UV life. Polymer lining for drinking-water compliance (AS/NZS 4020), no metallic taste, and no rust pitting from the inside out. The best of both construction types in a single tank. No lining to fail mid-life, no metal contact with your water.
Where it lands
Primary supply on a one- or two-person rural cabin. Secondary tank on an established rural block adding capacity without expanding the main system. Replacement for an aging 3,000L plain-steel tank where the owner wants potable-water compliance on the upgrade.

How long will it take to arrive?
Most tanks reach your block within two weeks of order. Every tank is made in Tasmania and delivered direct, so there’s no mainland freight wait. If you’ve got a critical date (plumber booked, build sign-off, certifier inspection), let us know at order time and we’ll flag any timing risk
Do you install the tank or sort the plumbing?
No. We deliver to your block and unload. Connecting it to your downpipe, pump, and house plumbing is a job for your plumber. On a new build the plumber usually has the inlet, outlet, and overflow rough-in ready before the tank arrives.
Do I need council approval to install a water tank?
For most rural and residential properties in Tasmania, a standalone rainwater tank doesn’t need council approval. Larger tanks, elevated tanks on stands, and tanks in heritage zones can have local rules, so a quick check with your council before you order is worth the five minutes. Fire fighting tanks tied to a building permit are usually approved as part of the build itself.
Can I pick the colour?
Yes. Most ranges come in 22+ Colorbond colours so you can match a roof, fascia, fence, or pick something that disappears into the bush. Use the colour picker on the product page. The live colour shows on the 3D tank view so you can see exactly how it’ll look before you check out.
What if I order the wrong size or change my mind?
Get in touch as soon as you can. If the tank hasn’t begun manufacturing, we may be able to change the tank colour or size. Unfortunately, once manufacturing starts (as all tanks are custom-made), we can’t accept returns.
