Preparing for Your Tank Delivery
A few simple steps before your delivery day will make the whole process safe, smooth, and stress-free for everyone.
Our delivery team works hard to get your tank to you safely, but because they have not visited your property before, they rely on you to make sure the site is ready. Please take a few minutes to read through this guide and check that your access meets the requirements below.
Our Delivery Vehicle
We use a medium rigid truck with a trailer for most tank deliveries. Here are the key dimensions you need to plan for:
- Total length: 19 metres (63 ft)
- Minimum width clearance: 3.6 metres (12 ft)
- Minimum height clearance: 5 metres (17 ft)
These are minimum requirements. If your access is borderline, please contact us before delivery day.
Pre-Delivery Checklist
Check these off before your delivery day:
- Road width and height — Check that all access roads and your driveway entry provide at least 3.6 m wide and 5 m high clearance along the full route.
- Road surface quality — Access tracks must be in navigable condition. Clear any deep ruts, potholes, unstable culverts, or creek crossings that may be impassable.
- Overhead obstacles — Check for power lines or low bridges along the access route. Anything under 5 m clearance could block our vehicle.
- Steep or unsealed roads — Our trucks are rear-wheel drive, not four-wheel drive. Steep unsealed tracks and sharp corners may prevent us from reaching your preferred delivery spot. If you have steep or rough access, please call us first.
- Turning room on site — We need enough hardstand area on your property to turn the truck and trailer around. Make sure this space is clear on the day.
- Someone must be home — At least one person needs to be on site to accept the delivery. We cannot leave tanks unattended.
- Pets restrained — Please make sure all pets are secured well away from the delivery area for the entire duration of the drop-off.
Common Access Issues to Watch For
These are the things that most commonly delay or prevent delivery:
- Overhanging trees or branches — Check the full length of your driveway and access track. Low branches that look fine in a car can catch on a tall trailer.
- Overhead power lines — Any power line under 5 m is a problem. If you are unsure about clearance, measure before delivery day and let us know.
- Creek crossings and culverts — If your access involves crossing a creek or culvert, it must be solid enough to take the weight of our fully loaded truck and trailer.
- Steep grades and sharp corners — Our vehicles are not designed for extreme off-road conditions. If access involves steep hills or tight hairpin corners, contact us so we can work out the best approach together.
On the Day of Delivery
Our team will aim to position your tank as close to its final location as possible. Here is what to keep in mind:
- Exclusion zone during offloading — While the tank is being offloaded, our team will establish a safety exclusion zone. No person or pet is permitted inside this zone at any time.
- Tank placement — Our team will get your tank as close to its final spot as we can. The exact placement and method used is at the discretion of our delivery team.
- Moving the tank after delivery — If the tank needs to be repositioned after offloading, we will need the help of able-bodied people on site. Please arrange for extra hands on the day if this is likely.
Safety first: Our delivery professionals are experienced in handling tanks safely across a wide range of situations. Please follow all instructions from our team while they are on site.
Our team will work with you to find the best solution. If your site has any unusual conditions, the more we know in advance, the better we can prepare.
Not Enough Room for Our Truck?
If your property does not have enough space to accommodate our standard delivery vehicle, please contact our team before your scheduled delivery date. We can often make alternative arrangements, but we need to know in advance to organise this properly.
Do not leave it until delivery day. Last-minute changes are harder to solve and may result in delays or rescheduling.
