The 1,700L Aquaplate Water Tank takes the same 770mm low-profile height as the 930L and spreads wider, to 1,680mm in diameter, for almost double the capacity. A steel tank that stays below a single-storey roofline. Aquaplate construction means Zincalume steel outside, food-grade lining inside, AS/NZS 4020 potable-water compliant. Tasmanian-made with a 15-year prorated warranty and free delivery to 90% of the state.

More capacity, same low height
At 770mm tall on a 1,680mm diameter, the 1,700L gives you nearly double the 930L’s storage without adding a single millimetre of height. The same under-eave, under-verandah, behind-a-deck clearance works. It just takes a bigger pad. Ideal for blocks where the horizontal space is there but vertical is capped by roof slope or neighbour rules.
Why Aquaplate, not plain steel
Plain galvanised tanks let water contact bare metal, which causes slow rust pitting over the decades and can leave a metallic edge on the water. Aquaplate bonds a food-grade polymer liner to the inside of a Zincalume steel shell. You get steel’s strength and longevity outside, potable-water compliance inside, and AS/NZS 4020 certification on every tank.
Where it makes sense
Rural properties adding a second low-profile tank to supplement the main. Suburban catchment where a tall tank would overshadow the fence. Council-restricted front elevations. Replacement for an old wide-base galvanised tank where the owner wants the same footprint but safer drinking water.

How long will it take to arrive?
Most tanks reach your block within two weeks of order. Every tank is made in Tasmania and delivered direct, so there’s no mainland freight wait. If you’ve got a critical date (plumber booked, build sign-off, certifier inspection), let us know at order time and we’ll flag any timing risk
Do you install the tank or sort the plumbing?
No. We deliver to your block and unload. Connecting it to your downpipe, pump, and house plumbing is a job for your plumber. On a new build the plumber usually has the inlet, outlet, and overflow rough-in ready before the tank arrives.
Do I need council approval to install a water tank?
For most rural and residential properties in Tasmania, a standalone rainwater tank doesn’t need council approval. Larger tanks, elevated tanks on stands, and tanks in heritage zones can have local rules, so a quick check with your council before you order is worth the five minutes. Fire fighting tanks tied to a building permit are usually approved as part of the build itself.
Can I pick the colour?
Yes. Most ranges come in 22+ Colorbond colours so you can match a roof, fascia, fence, or pick something that disappears into the bush. Use the colour picker on the product page. The live colour shows on the 3D tank view so you can see exactly how it’ll look before you check out.
What if I order the wrong size or change my mind?
Get in touch as soon as you can. If the tank hasn’t begun manufacturing, we may be able to change the tank colour or size. Unfortunately, once manufacturing starts (as all tanks are custom-made), we can’t accept returns.
