If you’re already planning a 10,000L concrete slab but wondering if you should go bigger, this is the step-up. Same 2,600mm footprint, same 2,700mm square base. Just 290mm more height and 2,500 more litres. No extra groundwork. About $270 difference over the 10,000L (a tiny premium per extra litre).
Why this matters for Aquaplate specifically
A bigger tank means water sits longer between full fills. That’s when drinking-water tank construction earns its keep. Plain galvanised at this scale develops issues with taste and appearance as the water sits. Aquaplate’s bonded food-grade liner (AS/NZS 4020 certified) means water contact with the shell’s Zincalume steel is eliminated. The water that sat for three weeks in the tank is the same quality as the water that just came off the roof.

How long will it take to arrive?
Most tanks reach your block within two weeks of order. Every tank is made in Tasmania and delivered direct, so there’s no mainland freight wait. If you’ve got a critical date (plumber booked, build sign-off, certifier inspection), let us know at order time and we’ll flag any timing risk
Do you install the tank or sort the plumbing?
No. We deliver to your block and unload. Connecting it to your downpipe, pump, and house plumbing is a job for your plumber. On a new build the plumber usually has the inlet, outlet, and overflow rough-in ready before the tank arrives.
Do I need council approval to install a water tank?
For most rural and residential properties in Tasmania, a standalone rainwater tank doesn’t need council approval. Larger tanks, elevated tanks on stands, and tanks in heritage zones can have local rules, so a quick check with your council before you order is worth the five minutes. Fire fighting tanks tied to a building permit are usually approved as part of the build itself.
Can I pick the colour?
Yes. Most ranges come in 22+ Colorbond colours so you can match a roof, fascia, fence, or pick something that disappears into the bush. Use the colour picker on the product page. The live colour shows on the 3D tank view so you can see exactly how it’ll look before you check out.
What if I order the wrong size or change my mind?
Get in touch as soon as you can. If the tank hasn’t begun manufacturing, we may be able to change the tank colour or size. Unfortunately, once manufacturing starts (as all tanks are custom-made), we can’t accept returns.
