1,700L Galvanised Water Tank

Made in Tasmania | 15 Year Warranty | Free Delivery!
Wide and low galv. 1680mm across, 770mm tall. Double the 930L’s capacity without gaining any height, so it still slides under a pergola, behind a fence, or beside a garage wall. Hot-dip galvanised finish reads as working rural from the first day and better as it weathers in. Inside, a food-grade liner means AS/NZS 4020 potable compliance. You’re buying a traditional silver farm tank that happens to be drinking-water safe.

Tank material Galvanised Steel

Low-profile galv, the farm standard

At 770mm this tank sits around knee height. That’s the footprint of a classic under-eave rural rainwater catch, and the shape you’ll recognise from most old Tasmanian farms. Galv doesn’t need picking to match anything. Silver grey against a paddock, a shed wall, or a weatherboard line and it’s already in place.

Zinc bonds to the steel, not just sits on it

Hot-dip galvanising is a metallurgical bond. Zinc and steel fuse through reaction during immersion, not a spray coat on top. Scratches and minor impacts heal over rather than starting rust points. The finish cares for itself.

Food-grade liner inside

Traditional galv tanks used to mean you accepted a bit of metallic taste in rainwater. This range doesn’t. Internal polymer lining keeps the water off the zinc, AS/NZS 4020 certified for potable use. Traditional look, modern water quality.

Where this shape fits

1680mm diameter, 770mm tall. Good for shed eaves, under carports, along fence lines, and low-clearance positions where height is the constraint. For the same diameter at 1550mm tall, the 3,400L nearly doubles the capacity if you’ve got the height to spare.

Payment Information

We accept VISA, Mastercard, Google and Apple Pay.

How long will it take to arrive?

Most tanks reach your block within two weeks of order. Every tank is made in Tasmania and delivered direct, so there’s no mainland freight wait. If you’ve got a critical date (plumber booked, build sign-off, certifier inspection), let us know at order time and we’ll flag any timing risk

Do you install the tank or sort the plumbing?

No. We deliver to your block and unload. Connecting it to your downpipe, pump, and house plumbing is a job for your plumber. On a new build the plumber usually has the inlet, outlet, and overflow rough-in ready before the tank arrives.

Do I need council approval to install a water tank?

For most rural and residential properties in Tasmania, a standalone rainwater tank doesn’t need council approval. Larger tanks, elevated tanks on stands, and tanks in heritage zones can have local rules, so a quick check with your council before you order is worth the five minutes. Fire fighting tanks tied to a building permit are usually approved as part of the build itself.

Can I pick the colour?

Yes. Most ranges come in 22+ Colorbond colours so you can match a roof, fascia, fence, or pick something that disappears into the bush. Use the colour picker on the product page. The live colour shows on the 3D tank view so you can see exactly how it’ll look before you check out.

What if I order the wrong size or change my mind?

Get in touch as soon as you can. If the tank hasn’t begun manufacturing, we may be able to change the tank colour or size. Unfortunately, once manufacturing starts (as all tanks are custom-made), we can’t accept returns.
