TFS minimum, plus a 25% buffer
10,000L is the compliance floor. 12,500L is what you pick when the block gets long dry stretches or the building area sits at the upper end of the fire-tank sizing tables. Same Tas Approved fittings as the 10,000L fire tank, just more reserve behind them.
Galvanised for the metal-construction requirement
Fire tanks above ground must be metal or non-combustible. Hot-dip galvanised is the traditional compliant choice, with zinc bonded to steel through reaction, not sprayed on top. Scratches don’t become rust points, and there’s no paint to ignite or degrade. The finish holds for decades with zero maintenance.
Where this shape fits
2600mm across, 2310mm tall. Shares the 10,000L fire tank’s 2600mm footprint, so if you’re upsizing on an existing slab there’s no concrete change. The 14,000L fire tank steps to a wider 3400mm pad if the site has more horizontal room than vertical.

How long will it take to arrive?
Most tanks reach your block within two weeks of order. Every tank is made in Tasmania and delivered direct, so there’s no mainland freight wait. If you’ve got a critical date (plumber booked, build sign-off, certifier inspection), let us know at order time and we’ll flag any timing risk
Do you install the tank or sort the plumbing?
No. We deliver to your block and unload. Connecting it to your downpipe, pump, and house plumbing is a job for your plumber. On a new build the plumber usually has the inlet, outlet, and overflow rough-in ready before the tank arrives.
Do I need council approval to install a water tank?
For most rural and residential properties in Tasmania, a standalone rainwater tank doesn’t need council approval. Larger tanks, elevated tanks on stands, and tanks in heritage zones can have local rules, so a quick check with your council before you order is worth the five minutes. Fire fighting tanks tied to a building permit are usually approved as part of the build itself.
Can I pick the colour?
Yes. Most ranges come in 22+ Colorbond colours so you can match a roof, fascia, fence, or pick something that disappears into the bush. Use the colour picker on the product page. The live colour shows on the 3D tank view so you can see exactly how it’ll look before you check out.
What if I order the wrong size or change my mind?
Get in touch as soon as you can. If the tank hasn’t begun manufacturing, we may be able to change the tank colour or size. Unfortunately, once manufacturing starts (as all tanks are custom-made), we can’t accept returns.
