A 1680 x 1550 galv tank is the image most people have when they hear ‘rainwater tank’. It’s the rural shape that shows up in farmhouse photos, on shed sides, and in the corner of any country block. There’s nothing to specify beyond the size. Silver is the finish, weathering is the patina, and the whole tank reads as correct from day one.
Hot-dip galvanising bonds zinc to the steel through reaction. The finish is part of the tank, not paint over it. Scratches heal over. Minor impacts don’t start rust spread. This is the tank for working properties where things occasionally run into other things.
Traditional galv plus modern lining means AS/NZS 4020 compliant drinking water. No metallic taste. Same internal water quality as the Aquaplate and Colorbond ranges. The finish is where the difference lives.
1680mm across, 1550mm tall. Good for rural households, shed catchments, and farm primary supply. On the same 1680mm footprint, the 5,300L climbs to 2310mm tall if capacity matters more than low profile. On a wider 2600mm pad at the same height, the 8,200L almost triples this capacity.

Most tanks reach your block within two weeks of order. Every tank is made in Tasmania and delivered direct, so there’s no mainland freight wait. If you’ve got a critical date (plumber booked, build sign-off, certifier inspection), let us know at order time and we’ll flag any timing risk
No. We deliver to your block and unload. Connecting it to your downpipe, pump, and house plumbing is a job for your plumber. On a new build the plumber usually has the inlet, outlet, and overflow rough-in ready before the tank arrives.
For most rural and residential properties in Tasmania, a standalone rainwater tank doesn’t need council approval. Larger tanks, elevated tanks on stands, and tanks in heritage zones can have local rules, so a quick check with your council before you order is worth the five minutes. Fire fighting tanks tied to a building permit are usually approved as part of the build itself.
Yes. Most ranges come in 22+ Colorbond colours so you can match a roof, fascia, fence, or pick something that disappears into the bush. Use the colour picker on the product page. The live colour shows on the 3D tank view so you can see exactly how it’ll look before you check out.
Get in touch as soon as you can. If the tank hasn’t begun manufacturing, we may be able to change the tank colour or size. Unfortunately, once manufacturing starts (as all tanks are custom-made), we can’t accept returns.
